Uplifting Baby Names for 2021: Sun rising over year number

After the train-wreck that was 2020, we could all use some encouragement. I compiled a list of diverse and uplifting baby names for 2021 that will make us all feel more hopeful.

Baby Girl Names

Alana  It can be derived either from the Old High German word for “precious” or from the Irish language term “a leanbh” for “child”. In Gaelic, Alanna is the term for “beauty” or “serenity”.

Angelica Angelica comes from the Latin Angelicus (“angelic”), which in turn is descended from the Greek ángelos, meaning “messenger of God” or “angel”.

Annika Annika as a girl’s name is of Hausa and Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Annika is “sweet-faced”. 

Alison From the German Adalheidis meaning “nobility”, and the French Adeliz, which is a form of Adelaide, Alison means “of the nobility”.

Arya The name, Arya, is a girl’s name of Sanskrit origin, meaning “noble” or “air/song”. Arya was derived from an Indo-Iranian word meaning “Aryan” or “noble.”

Audrey This means “noble strength” and is of English origin.

Bliss The meaning of Bliss is “joy”, “cheer”, or “intense happiness”.

Carissa This is a feminine given name of Greek origin derived from Greek Charis meaning “grace”. It can also be translated as “beloved”.

Celeste Celeste is a given name or surname which derives from the Latin caelestis, meaning “heavenly” or “celestial”.

Celia Celia is of Latin origin and means “heaven”. 

Destiny Destiny is a mainly feminine name meaning “destiny” or “fate”, from the Latin word “destinare,” meaning “to determine”.

Eliana – Many sources derive it from Hebrew, from Akkadian/Assyrian, literally translated as “My God has answered me”.

Engracia The name, Engracia, is a girl’s name of Spanish origin, meaning “endowed with God’s grace”.

Fayola The name, Fayola, is a girl’s name of African origin, meaning “lucky”, “good fortune”, or “blessed”.
